An inspirational speech by Dr. Abdul Kalam

India's former president Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam quotes a 3000 years old Tamil poem.

On an inspirational speech he delivered to the European Parliament at Strasbourg, France in April 2007.

In his speech he stresses the point that the universal peace begins with the single heart by quoting the words from the old Tamil literature.

Where there is righteousness in the heart
there is beauty in the character,
When there is beauty in the character
there is harmony in the home,
When there is harmony in the home
there is order in the nation,
When there is order in the nation
there is peace in the world.

VICTIMS FROM THE BOTH SIDES

A  small hut in a tree to watch out the paddy lands

Due to the deforestation wild elephants come into the villages.

A farmer made this small hut in a tree to prevent elephants from crop-raiding paddy lands.

In one night they can destroy an annual harvest for the farmers, which in most cases is a personal tragedy for the whole family.

Some times jumbos break into the houses and claim the lives of people.

The classical method to prevent crop raiding is to guard the fields, shoot the elephants and use electrical fencing, but its not alwys working.

When there is human elephant interaction, there is always victims, may it be the elephants or the humans. (Human - Elephant conflict)
